Contemporary Directions Ensemble and Baroque Chamber Orchestra

  • Earl V. Moore Building, Hankinson Rehearsal Hall 1100 Baits Drive Ann Arbor, MI, 48109 United States (map)

Sacred texts from ancient times connect the 18th century music of Johann Sebastian Bach and the 20th century music of Steve Reich. The University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance's Baroque Chamber Orchestra (BCO), and Contemporary Directions Ensemble (CDE) join forces to perform Bach's cantata, Aus der Tiefe rufe ich, Herr, zu dir (1707) and Steve Reich's Tehillim (1981). Led by violinist Aaron Berofsky and keyboardist Joseph Gascho, BCO performs on baroque instruments. Led by conductor Oriol Sans, CDE will feature winds, strings, electric organs, and numerous percussion.
